Marcuse Conference Accommodations – Downtown Hotels
1) Holiday Inn Yorkville, 280 Bloor St. west. (416) 968-0010 – This is the ‘closest’ hotel and the one I would suggest. It has a York University rate, so mention that you are with the IHMS conference at York University, Oct. 26-28. Depending on the room, rates are from $ 180/night – $ 210/night (Can).
2) Howard Johnsons Toronto Yorkville, 89 Avenue Rd. (416) 964-1220 – slightly further (5-6 blocks) from the Holiday Inn Yorkville but cheaper, ($ 99/night Can).
3) Hotel Intercontinental, 220 Bloor St West. (416) 960-5200 – Close to the Holiday Inn Yorkville, ($ 260 – $ 280 /night). This hotel is about two blocks down the street from the Holiday Inn Yorkville – both on Bloor St. west. Guests just need to select “Book Now” in the upper right-hand corner of the hotel homepage, enter the group dates, and it will bring you to a page with the special group rate for York University. The dates to enter are: Oct. 25-28, 2017.
NOTE: There will be a York University shuttle to and from each of these hotels every day.
Local BnB’s near the Holiday Inn Yorkville, St. George and Bloor St. W.
– Global Guest House, 9 Spadina Rd.
– Spadina 11 Guesthouse (right beside Global Guest House), 11 Spadina Rd.
– Annex Quest House – a bit further up Spadina Rd. but south of Dupont
– Havinn – 118 Spadina Rd.
If you are going to book into an AirBnB, please try to stay as close as you can to the Spadina Ave/Rd and Bloor St West subway station and the Holiday Inn Yorkville hotel at Bloor St. west and St. George. Bloor and Spadina is the main intersection in the Annex area. The reason for staying as close as possible to this location is that the Holiday Inn Yorkville will be a pick-up point for the York U Shuttle that will transport us to and from the conference at York each day. So, try to make sure your AirBnB location is downtown close to the Spadina and Bloor intersection if possible. If you do get an Air BnB outside of the Annex area, then you may have to get up to York by subway (with a connection to a York U express bus – called the 196 York University Rocket – at Sheppard West subway station). In that case, make sure your Air NbN is near subway line going up to York. Please e-mail the conference organizers if you have any questions about getting to York, or about accommodations.
